Cave Creek Recreation Area Come watch the sky with us! Come look through telescopes and enjoy a slide presentation under the stars. Learn the names of stars, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. When visible, view the craters of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for your comfort. We will have information about the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona, telescopes will be setup to view the night sky, and we will be doing a slide program on the night sky. This is a fun night out, come alone or bring your entire family or group. This is a fun, exciting, family activity, we hope to see you at one of these events. We encourage you to bring your binoculars and enjoy the views from these great locations. We have special equipment for wheelchair access viewing. The Holiday Telescope Help Seminar The Holiday Telescope Help Seminar is a one night special class to help you with the assembly and operation of any telescope you may have. The goal of this class is to insure your telescope is properly assembled and that you understand the basic use and operation of the telescope. We will help you assemble it if you are having difficulty. You will learn how to align your telescope, use the various accessories, and find interesting objects to view, such as star clusters, nebula, and galaxies. Rancho de los Caballeros Programs Stargazing at Rancho de los Caballeros - stargaze under the dark Arizona skies in a classic western resort atmosphere. These programs are FREE and open to the general public. There will be telescope and binocular viewing at each program as weather permits. The program starts at 7 PM on the south lawn. Please call the resort prior to attending. The programs are from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM unless otherwise noted. Call the resort for dates and times of Stargazing events. Glendale Public Library Programs Summer Stargazing at the Glendale Library. Learn what you can see each month from your backyard and get the latest JPL/NASA space program status and discoveries. These programs are FREE and open to the public with no reservations required. There will be telescope and binocular viewing after each program as weather permits. The presentation is in the main auditorium starting at 7 PM with the telescope viewing on the sidewalk in front of the library. The programs are from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Mondays unless otherwise noted. The Glendale Public Library is located at 5959 West Brown Street, in Glendale. Call (623) 930 - 3530 for information and directions. Challenger Space Center Programs For information, directions, and fees for all programs call (623) 322-2001. Family Stargazing Nights This is a fun family evening to enjoy the great Arizona night sky. This program is open to the general public with no reservations needed. There is a multi-media presentation on the constellations and planets, with information on upcoming sky events to watch for. The presentation will include stories of the night sky (folklore from many different cultures). Then join us to look through telescopes at various night sky objects (the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies). This is an outdoor program, bring lawn chairs or blankets for your seating comfort. Equipment will be available for wheelchair access viewing. We encourage you to bring your binoculars and enjoy the views with us. The multi-media presentation starts at 7:30 PM, unless otherwise noted, followed by telescope viewing as weather permits. All Stargazing programs are on Saturday Nights unless otherwise noted. Saturday StarLab Planetarium Programs Go inside the StarLab Planetarium dome and you are transported into a night sky environment for an exciting and educational adventure. Learn about the stars, constellations, the moon, planets, deep space objects, celestial coordinates, the seasons, multicultural folklore/mythology, and much more.
